Window Wonderland
We invite animators to join us for the Junction’s 6th Annual Window Wonderland, Toronto's only outdoor augmented reality (AR) art exhibition, running from November 28, 2025 to February 1, 2026.
Each AR animation is paired with a painted mural, creating a dynamic, interactive piece that visitors can experience using the Artivive app.
The theme for this year’s exhibition is “Journeys Through Winter: Stories of Migration, Memory, and Belonging.” It explores the season as a canvas for stories of resilience, cultural tradition, and the search for home. Animators are encouraged to explore this theme from their perspective while collaborating with muralists and business owners to create unified, multi-layered work.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR MURALISTS. Toronto-based muralists must apply through The Junction BIA's Call for Muralists. Artists who wish to apply for both the muralist and animator positions must fill out both applications.
REQUIREMENTS
- Applications are open to artists aged 18+ (as of the contract start date.)
- Submissions are limited to English.
- Group submissions by multiple Animators or collectives are not permitted.
- Portfolio must include a link to video examples of past work (on YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
We recommend that all applicants read the Call for Artists page thoroughly before applying. It includes an estimated project timeline/scope of work.
SELECTION PROCESS
Our Art Consultant will select from a shortlist of animators, with the Artistic Curator & Jury making the final selection.
COMPENSATION
$750 CAD + HST for a minimum 20-second animation with sound loop. Payment issued post-completion. Animators must submit an invoice for their fees. The artists we collaborate with must agree to receive payment through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or PayPal if their bank is incompatible with our EFT system (Plooto). Please see below for the estimated timeline to understand the scope of work required.
WORKSHOP (participation is mandatory)
Artivive will host a mandatory welcome meeting and virtual workshop on Friday, July 18. This workshop will introduce augmented reality concepts and provide tutorials on creating AR art using Artivive's tools. Attendance is required for all selected artists, even if they have previously participated in Window Wonderland. This workshop will equip artists with valuable skills to enhance their creative process.
